International Human Rights AttorneyAs FoxNews reported earlier today, a Senate approved a bill that would impose tough sanctions on Russian human rights violators.

The Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee approved the bill that would impose visa bans and freeze the assets of those held responsible for ┬áhuman rights violations in Russia.

The legislation is specifically aimed at  the persons connected to the imprisonment, torture and death of attorney Sergei Magnitsky. Mr. Magnitsky died in a Russian jail in 2009.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., stated that he would include the human rights legislation to a bipartisan measure to normalize trade relations with Russia. The measure could take place as early as four weeks.

The Russian government has expressed strong objections to the bill and threatened retaliatory measures if it becomes law.
